This is a simple tutorial on how I use the Expression mapping feature in Cubase 7. These are two simple ways to use it and they work very well for me. If you have any questions please feel free to comment. Thanks for watching and as always, have a great day.

This tutorial was a lot of help. Thank you. I'm still having issues with Expression Map. It seems to be setup correctly. In the piano roll editor I get the list of articulations I created and I can set the express. Two things seem to be happening; the articulation is not being applied; sometimes when it reaches the articulation it start long stained unrelated note. Sound more like a car horn. I'm using HALion Symphonic in Cubebase Pro 9.

Hi there, I know this is old but if anyone can help I would appreciate it! Im trying to accomplish my own set up in the expression map by using symphonic instrument (VST pack by steinberg) instead of Kontakt. Alas, the new articulations are not playing. What am I missing? Do I need to connect something within the VST window first?

Thank you, anyone and all who can answer this.

Hello. Thank you for the video. I have done it all to the point where i write in the articulation but nothing switches in Symphony essentials. Ill gave session strings a go but still the same problem. I have all the notes set to C2 I also Tried C0 but they dont trigger the plug in

Hi, TheDarris! Hope is everything fine over there and you are doing well! Before I ask for your help again, it's good to know you are joined in the Film for Composers Deniz's group! 🙂  As far as I could get from an answer of yours there, you don't own a formal music education, right? So please, feel free for asking me whatever you want regarding music theory, ok?
My question is very simple now! Do you have separated/dedicated output tracks in Cubase for each articulations? If yes, you do have  A LOT of fades just for the Berlin Woodwinds, right?

Hi, TheDarris! First of all, thank you very much for your swift reply in the other video! I figure it out what the problem was! Thanks! But may I ask you a question regarding the Berlin Woodwinds' Articulation Performer now? So, once I click on any Articulation Performer patch, Kontakt automatically creates the instruments slots with all the 14 articulations of the opened patch. So far so good. But these slots are NKM format, right? So I'm not supposed to open an Instrument (NKI) in this Kontakt I'm using the Articulation Performer, am I right? Otherwise, the instrument won't work! Thus, each instrument is to use one Kontakt instance just for them?

Thank you in advance and looking forward! 🙂

That was very helpful and intuitive. I just got Komplete 9 and i have Cubase , i got lost in those configuration but after watching your video everything is clear and make sense now. thank you!. I still have a problem in my M-Audio keyboard though as i have to switch the MIDI channel on the keyboard to route to the related channel in Kontakt or Cubase but I guess this is how it works, i thought there is a way where it set to the right channel automatically when I select the track in Cubase or the instrument in Kontact

This is the process that works for my setup currently but as I find new ways to use the EM feature I will post a video on how to use them that way. Thanks for watching and I am glad this helped you out.

AWESOME!!! I simply can't get ENOUGH data on "Expression Maps"!! I don't have any sweet KONTAKT or VSL based Sample Libs….YET!!, but I DO own Kontakt and I WILL buy Vienna's Vienna Instruments Pro. But for NOW I want to build "EM's for my Miroslav and Garritan samples. PLEASE don't let this be your L-A-S-T Video on this SUBJECT!! "EM's" can get pretty DEEP by what I have seen..THANK YOU!!
