Ableton’s Auto Filter comes with a handful of filter and circuit types, providing classic analog filter emulation. It’s best known for it’s moving filter effects, which can be created by an envelope follower, an LFO and a few quantized modulation controls. And with it’s sidechain feature, It’s also capable of taking in an external source for some further modulation.

It may not seem like much, but if you truly understand how Auto Filter works, you’ll be able to pump a little more life into your dull and somewhat static sounds.

In this video, I walk you through every parameter within Auto Filter. I also provide detailed examples and some typical uses. By the end of the video, you should be able to use Auto Filter within your own productions with ease.

And as always… RTFM!
