‪The Native Instruments DJ Mothership: Traktor + X1, S4, Maschine‬ w/ DJ Endo

To download Traktor The Mothership setting – http://bit.ly/gmVOnT

Native Instruments product specialist and Dubspot Instructor Mike Henderson aka DJ Endo explains and demonstrates the incredible audio processing, DJing, and performance possibilities of Dell’s powerful Studio XPS laptop running Windows 7. In this new video Endo creates a next level Traktor DJ setup called The Mothership. Using the Studio XPS laptop along with NI’s Audio 8 interface and the Kensington USB hub, Endo connects a series of Native Instruments next generation DJ controllers and gear including a mapped-out Maschine for auto-synching and beat-matchining, two Traktor Kontrol X1 for browsing/scrolling through tracks, controlling effects panels, and Traktor Kontrol S4 for advanced controllerisms using the decks. Lastly, Endo goes into Traktor and shows us how to navigate the preferences, device setups, and load up the Settings for The Mothership.

For all of you who think this setup is overkill, you should see my current setup. I agree, you don't need the S4 if you're using the other controllers, but my current DJ Setup is 4 CDJs, Maschine MK2 as a MIDI controller (on the right), F1 as a MIDI controller (on the left). I programmed every button on the setup so I know what every thing does and every controller does something really well. The more buttons, and the more running around the booth I have to do, the more fun for me personally.

What is it that you get from all of these integrated devices combined vs. let's say a controller? 500 More cue points? No seriously I'm not sure and want to know the advantages lol

tbh i hardly use the machine mikro as its a pain to midi sync it with the s4 as it fluctuates but i can be done . its great tho to add to add beats from a live input and to take that beat and add it to the remix deck as a alternative which is much easyere

I have a s4 , x1, machine mikro and F1 coming in the post i found a brillient way to intergrate these into a awsome setup so if anyone interested in me doing a video hit the like button or follow my profile and ile put something together. I have intergrated some mapping so i have a live input from the mashine , a remix deck for f1 and two mixing decks i have intergrated some exstra mapping that allows me to have more cue points and fx with the x1.

It would be nice if Traktor had the option of using the S4 as an external external mixer instead of midi. I too prefer using an external mixer, but I also use timecode.

x1 and maschine is still overkill in my opinion. There are more then enouch options and pages for custom templates. more buttons means more room for error. plus the S4 is pretty much an x1 with some enhancements for remix decks.

I agree with you on a lot of what your saying but its also about using what you love to use and what helps you be the best performer you can be. Some DJs like Sven Vath still use vinyl because that is what they love to use the most and because it sounds better than digital. Then you have the Dubfire's who use all the latest and greatest technology and fly around the DJ booth really rocking every piece of gear. Its about workflow, and personal preference. I say mix it up and experiment

The Maschine isn't an audio interface, but yeah it works great when you use a separate audio interface for Maschine and route the audio into a Traktor deck.

Nope – the S4 is great for controlling Traktor's internal mixer. I don't like using the Fx on the S4 so I used the X1 for that. My DJ setup is constantly changing based on my mood and the gig. I wouldn't use this setup live, but this video is to show what you can do on a PC.

And yet your profile Icon is an S2 Mixer. #Justsayin . Don't resist the evolution of technology. I love beatmatching, and vinyl more than the rest of them, but I've evolved with technology. What's the point of wasting time beatmatching when you can focus on more creative things?

Your asking a few questions here. 1) Yes you can run Traktor and Maschine on the same computer in perfect sync. Check out my other video on the Dubspot Youtube on Syncing Traktor and Maschine. 2) If your using CDJs in HID Mode you can either use the CDJs to control the tempo or you can use Traktors master clock or tempo faders in Traktors decks to control tempo. Either option has the same results. I use the CDJs in Advanced HID Mode and use Sync and love it!

I don't find just DJing with the X1 inspiring personally. I like having as many buttons as possible. It makes me move around the DJ Booth more, and is more entertaining for the audience. You could do everything with an ipad but who wants to see someone standing around with a small controller? also each controller has its purpose and does something better than the other.

Actually I haven't heard of any Traktor crashes that are directly Traktor related in the past year. Any crashes that I've heard of are because of computer problems. If your computer is overloaded, the CPU meter in Traktor will show that your computer is overly stressed. If you have a powerful computer you can basically have as many things plugged in as you have USB ports. My home setup now is currently everything in this video + more (8 USB devices total plugged in) and runs like a champion
